2008 The Quarrel Cabernet Merlot
Guests at Borambola Homestead have said the room goes cold, the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end and if you listen really hard you can still hear them quarrelling about this wine blend. Winemaker’s ghosts could be like that. Finally it was settled, a Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot was born.
THE WINEDisplaying an abundance of classic Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot characteristics from aging in French oak barrels, this wine is well balanced and ready to enjoy now but will develop with careful cellaring.
SOURCEThe wine is produced from premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes grown in the Gundagai and surrounding regions.
COLOURDark opaque hue with a purple rim.
NOSEThe wine has a lifted perfumed nose redolent of raspberries and red plums with hints of spice and cedary oak. It shows the generous fruit aromas of Shiraz and some of the lifted floral notes of Cabernet and Merlot.
PALATEThe palate has good regional characters of bright plums and brambly fruits. This wine has fine grained, well integrated tannins and has a lingering finish.
